Harvesting Snow & Question About Where to Calculate Gravity Pressures

I’m considering design requirements for a cistern system that will utilize two sets of storage tanks. One would be for primary storage, and would be down hill from catchment sources. The other would be the secondary storage, and would be up-hill from the primary storage tanks and dwellings. My thinking is that I’d utilize the secondary tanks for potable water and for generation of electricity; the electrical generation would be by locating a generator along […]

Kohler Shower Faucet/Valve

In my master shower the valve seems to be not functioning correctly. I have lost hot water pressure when turned to fully hot on the lever/control. When I turn the lever back just slightly to cooler setting, the water pressure returns to normal. There are two seperate shower heads with seperate valves and faucets in this shower. The other faucet seems fine. So it appears to be isolated with this one valve. I have taken […]

Water Hammering on sump pump

Okay, So I am beginning to get concerned. The sump pump in our basement works great but every time it relieves water there is a huge banging in the pipes after the pump turns off. It was suggested that I put a water hammer T in the pipe exiting the home. I have not been able to find much online about water hammering in drain pipes. I have found a lot on water pipes though. […]

Water shutoff valve handle turns but does not respond

Shutoff valve hooked up to a toilet. The handle turns but the water will not turn off. The pressure does not seem to be very high given the spray into the tank is not very strong so I assume the valve will not open up all of the way either. As the knob turns, it feels bumpy (it almost feels like a wrench on a rounded nut). I used a screwdriver to open up the […]

Modular home – Water pressure or faucet?

I have a modular home. The kitchen faucet seems to not have good pressure. Can it be the faucet? I hear the gasket/washer/ sort of pop, as we turn it on and off. Does anyone know how much water pressure a modular home can be turned up to? It seems it takes forever for the washing machine to fill — I don’t think Modular homes are any different than a regular home when it comes […]

Kitchen faucet water pressure issue

All of our faucets have sufficient water pressure except the one in the kitchen. It is one of those with the sprayer in the faucet so you can pull it out and hit a button and it will spray. When I hit the spray button, the pressure seems fine. But when I revert back to normal flow, it often has very weak pressure, while a bathroom faucet only a few feet away is perfect. I […]
